Where Are The Halls

My 23rd Birthday

at Jerry’s Burger Bar

Hey, everyone! So, I just turned 23, and guess where I celebrated? If you said Jerry’s Burger Bar, you’d be spot on. I’ve been a fan since 2018 when I had my first cosmo there (back in my drinking days). The place has never let me down—awesome food without burning a hole in your wallet.

Jerry’s is my go-to for pretty much everything. Mother’s Day? Jerry’s. Craving a snack? Jerry’s. You get the gist. I’ve hit up almost all the Jerry’s in Cape Town—just Willowbridge left to conquer, and it’s on my list.

Now, despite my love for Jerry’s, I’ve only tried like three main dishes. Why? Well, I’m a creature of habit. If it ain’t broke, why fix it, right? My first love was their veggie burger back when I was all about that veg life. Haven’t had it since I reintroduced chicken into my diet, but it was a good run.

Contradictory to my meaty comeback, my absolute fave at Jerry’s is the Kimchi & avocado tacos. I usually add chicken (because, yum), but lately, I stick to the standard order. And let’s not forget the sweet potato chips or skinny fries—gotta keep things spicy, you know?

Oh, and the nachos. They’re unmatched. Trust me, I’ve done the research.

But let’s circle back to the birthday vibes. This year, I kicked off the celebrations on August 5th, surrounded by my Cape Town crew. And guess what? No birthday tears this time—just smiles all around. My friends showered me with gifts, turning our apartment into a mini Kirstenbosch. Seriously, I was one vase short of opening a florist.

It’s always a mixed bag of feelings, having friends scattered around the globe. Couldn’t see everyone, but hey, there’s always next year, right? Plus, I had my tacos, and that’s what really counts.

So, here’s to being 23, breaking traditions, and making memories—one taco at a time.

Catch you on the flip side!

Love,

Jess
