Picnic Perfection: Our Protea Picnic Date!
Hey everyone! Let me dive right into the fabulous picnic date Greg and I enjoyed last Friday. Picture this: us, chilling in our cozy secret spot on Chapman’s Peak, indulging in a scrumptious feast from Protea Picnics – it was total bliss! The planning? A total breeze! With just a quick call to Protea Picnics two days in advance, we were all set for our gourmet adventure. We got to mix and match from their delightful menu, ensuring every taste was catered to. From homemade dips and pâtés to mouthwatering quiches, fresh salads, a savory main course, and delectable sweet treats, they had everything to make our picnic perfect!
The “how to’s” of ordering your picnic
Planning our Protea Picnics experience was a total breeze! Just a simple call two days ahead, and we were all set to pick and mix from their extensive menu – think homemade dips or pâtés, scrumptious quiches, fresh salads, a main course, and sweet treats, catering to every taste. The ordering process is straightforward: place your order by midday, two days before your picnic, with a cost of R325 per person and a minimum of two picnics per order. You can easily book by WhatsApping Sally or via email. And when it’s time to collect your picnic feast, just head over to their location in Hout Bay, keeping in mind their specific collection times.
Is R650 too much for a Picnic?
Let’s weigh it against a DIY picnic from Woolworths: 2 salads at R148, 2 protein meals totaling R170, a gluten-free mini bread loaf and a regular mini loaf for R60, hummus and salmon pâté at R102, desserts for R81, and quiches or pastries at R126, totaling R687. Surprisingly, a grocery run can be pricier, and that’s without the unique, homemade touch Sally adds to each picnic! Our own picnic bounty was a dream: Smoked Salmon Pâté, Vegan Hummus, a Beetroot, Fig/Blueberry and Almond Salad, Caprese Salad, Vegetable Spring Rolls with Sweet Chilli, gluten-free Onion Potato Gratin, Chicken with Sundried Tomato, Avo, and Olive Salad, plus Chicken with Pomegranate, Almonds, and Balsamic Sauce, all rounded off with Champagne Cupcakes with Strawberry Cream Frosting & Baklava. Absolutely heavenly!”
How Our Protea Picnic Turned a Hot Day into a Cool Feast!?
Our picnic bounty was nothing short of a feast: We indulged in Smoked Salmon Pâté, Vegan Hummus, a vibrant Beetroot, Fig/Blueberry and Almond Salad, classic Caprese Salad, Vegetable Spring Rolls with Sweet Chilli, gluten-free Onion Potato Gratin, and a delicious Chicken with Sundried Tomato, Avo, and Olive Salad. The Chicken with Pomegranate, Almonds, and Balsamic Sauce was a delightful surprise, and we topped it all off with Champagne Cupcakes with Strawberry Cream Frosting & Baklava for dessert – simply heavenly! Despite the scorching 35-degree heat, our day in the sun was absolutely worth it. For anyone seeking an effortless yet exquisite picnic experience, Protea Picnics is the perfect choice. I can’t recommend them enough!
